History and origin of DC Comics Batman

Detective Comics 27 art by Bob Kane.

The character of Batman was created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger, and first appeared in Detective Comics #27 in 1939. The character has since become a cultural icon, appearing in various forms of media, including comics, films, television series, and video games.

The character of Batman is a superhero who fights crime in Gotham City, a fictional metropolis in the United States. Batman's real identity is Bruce Wayne, a billionaire playboy, philanthropist, and owner of Wayne Enterprises. After witnessing the murder of his parents as a child, Wayne dedicated himself to training his mind and body to peak physical condition, becoming a master of martial arts and detective skills. He dons a bat-themed costume and uses his wealth to fund a high-tech arsenal of gadgets and vehicles, which he uses to fight crime as the alter ego of Batman.

Over the years, Batman has been depicted in many different ways, with different writers and artists interpreting the character in their own styles. Despite these variations, the core elements of the character remain the same, a crime-fighting superhero who uses his skills, intelligence, and resources to protect the people of Gotham City and bring justice to its criminal underworld.
